Las campañas divulgativas son necesarias para mentalizar a toda la población implicada en el cuidado del recién nacido (padres, familiares, personal de guarderías, profesionales de la salud, etc.).</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Objetivo</span><p id="spar0010" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Descubrir qué grado de información o conocimiento tienen los padres de recién nacidos sanos y el personal sanitario (médicos y enfermeras) que los atiende, acerca de cuál es la posición más adecuada para dormir del recién nacido sano.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Material y método</span><p id="spar0015" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">El estudio tuvo lugar en un hospital maternoinfantil de nivel terciario. Se realizó una encuesta anónima y voluntaria que contenía una pregunta referente a la posición más adecuada del recién nacido para dormir. Se valoró la influencia en los resultados de la edad de los padres, trabajo, estudios y existencia de hijos previos.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Resultados</span><p id="spar0020" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">La posición de lado fue la respuesta más frecuente en el grupo de padres tanto en la primera (50,9%) como en la segunda encuesta (46,8 %). El 63,3 % del personal sanitario eligió la posición en decúbito supino como la más adecuada. La edad media de los padres fue mayor entre los que contestaron de forma correcta; así mismo, trabajaban más fuera de casa y habían cursado estudios durante más años. La existencia o no de hijos previos no se asoció a un mayor grado de acierto.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Conclusiones</span><p id="spar0025" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Todavía en algunas maternidades los padres creen que la posición de lado es la más adecuada para sus hijos. La elección de la posición en supino como la mejor para la prevención del SMSL en los bebés sanos debería ser unánime entre el personal sanitario si queremos ilustrar con el ejemplo desde las maternidades.</p>" ] "en" => array:1 [ "resumen" => "<span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Background</span><p id="spar0030" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">It has been known for many years that the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is reduced by the supine sleeping position. Campaigns are required to increase awareness of this finding among all those involved in childcare (parents, relatives, kindergarten staff, health professionals etc.).</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Objective</span><p id="spar0035" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">To determine knowledge of the best sleeping position among health professionals (physicians and nurses) and the parents of healthy neonates.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Material and method</span><p id="spar0040" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">The study was performed in a tertiary maternity hospital. A voluntary, anonymous questionnaire containing an item on the best sleeping position for neonates was distributed. The influence of parental age, occupation, education, and previous children was analyzed.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Results</span><p id="spar0045" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">The side position was the most frequent answer among parents both in the first questionnaire (50.9 %) and in the second (46.8%). Health professionals preferred the supine position (63.3 %). Parents who gave the right answer had a higher mean age, were more likely to work outside the home and to be better educated. The existence of previous children did not influence the answer.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Conclusions</span><p id="spar0050" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">In some maternity hospitals, parents still believe the side sleeping position to be best for their children.
