Food Allergy & Food Allergens
2020, Comprehensive FoodomicsFood reactions during avoidance: Focus on peanut
2020, Annals of Allergy, Asthma and ImmunologyCitation Excerpt :The means by which exposure to peanut can lead to an allergic reaction should be well understood and included in anticipatory education for patients and families with peanut allergy. Although reaction secondary to aerosolized food protein is of concern, reactions to peanut by inhalation have been mostly self-reported, with the logistical probability of this route being more uncertain.52,53 Several studies have since evaluated the prospect of this, including a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized challenge by Simonte et al.54 In this study, 29 patients with peanut allergy were recruited, 37% of whom had reported a previous inhalation reaction.
