An n3FA deficiency has also been implicated in the etiology of autism and IQ deficits associated with phenylketonuria [40] for which supplementation has demonstrated some neuro-functional benefit [41]. This is an exploratory study examining factors associated with ADHD and ASD compared to controls, testing the hypothesis that they share etiologies involving parental age, nutritional factors, and genes as reflected by psychopathology in the family history.
