Introducción
Las recomendaciones impulsadas por las sociedades científicas pretenden disminuir la variabilidad en el manejo del paciente y contribuir a la estandarización de sus cuidados. Con este objetivo, la Sociedad Española de Medicina Intensiva, Críticos y Unidades Coronarias (SEMICYUC) publicó recientemente un total de 65 recomendaciones consideradas de alta relevancia para la atención diaria de los pacientes ingresados en las Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI)1. En la Junta Directiva ampliada de la SEMICYUC, en diciembre del 2016, con la presencia de los coordinadores de los GT, se decidió llevar a cabo este proyecto con el fin de definir y desarrollar 65 recomendaciones (5 por cada uno de los 13 GT) de especial interés para la práctica clínica diaria. A continuación, se presentan las recomendaciones de «no hacer» para el manejo del paciente crítico, elaboradas por los respectivos GT de la SEMICYUC.
Discusión
Las recomendaciones de «no hacer» en el manejo de los pacientes críticos elaboradas por los GT de la SEMICYUC se basan en prácticas desaconsejadas que se han considerado más relevantes de la atención diaria de los pacientes ingresados en las UCI. Estas recomendaciones proponen la suspensión, la reducción o la no utilización, al menos de forma rutinaria, de prácticas que no aportan beneficios debido a falta de evidencia para apoyar su utilización o prescripción.
